Texas Chainsaw Massicure 3D Review

I havent seen many horror films of late, they kind of went cheesy again and so i decided not to go to them until they provide something a little more entertaining. But i was given the oppertunity to go and watch Texas Chainsaw Massicure in 3D and i thought… well i guess he was an old skool classic horror villian so why not. Lady’s and Gents here is my Texas Chainsaw Massicure 3D Review.

So where do i begin with this movie, you could almost say this is a sequel to the original movie, of which they play homage too in the opening credits. Very cleverly done in 3D considering the film was originally released in the 70’s It then quickly shows you what happened directly after the events of that movie with a few spoilers thrown in.

Several years later… as you do.

A girl who was taken from the sawyer family home and adopted by two texan folk who were involved with burning down the sawyers home you follow the story of this girl grown up. She recieves a letter from her dying grandma (who is the only relative of the sawyers left) She inheirts the house and other duties…

And in typical horror cliche – she takes her friends in a scooby doo van pick up a hiker and head to the house. However locked in the basement…. LOL

Im not going to go into all the story with this because i think at the very least it deserves to be watched but it isnt really a good film. The story moves too quick, the violent scenes are limited and well the original film was shocking because of its contense but because films like saw or hostel upped the anti when it came to horror gore shown in films. this was a far far away from that. Oh well.

The story was enjoyable but the actors were forgetable. The problem i have with Horror remakes is that they always want to cast a bunch of new actors in the roles as a break-through kind of movie. But everyone generally hates remakes or reboots. It would of been nice to have had 1 or 2 familiar actors in the mix to make it a bit interesting. I think in total the only actor i reckognised was the estate lawyer who had been in many films over the years.

The Main Character Focus.

Main

Now i know she was in other stuff before this film but to me she is an unknown actor. But her performance was pretty good and one thing i would say about her is that she reminded me of Jamie Lee Curtis or Signore Weaver, given the write horror franchise she could become a good strong female cult heroine – and i dont see that very often in these films (mostly because i consider them throw away films) good for one showing forgettable after that. You never see a reboot or remake repeated on tv???

The story has many twists in it and half the time your left wondering to root for the girl, the town folk, or the main villian… yes its that kind of a weird story. I dont want to spoil it for you but there is a kind of team up near the end of the film that is kind of new to a horror franchise.

The effects looked good but the movie lacked them. As in needed alot more and to be a bit more gruesome. A horror film is a horror film, we go to see them because we want to test the bounderies of not wanting to watch something but you have to watch. Overal i give this movie a 3 out of 5 planet nerdy stars. because its average but has some interesting parts to it.
