Fallout: TV Series – Theoriee

This has spoilers… the show is awesome. I have some theory’s about where season 02 will lead.

1. Who will save Norm from the cryotube in vault 31?

Norm poses a problem to Betty. Who is now the overseer of Vault 33. So Norm being gone solves this problem. Furthermore with the repopulation of vault 32 with dwellers of 33 an easy explanation to Norms disappearance could simply be that he changed vaults. And as for Lucy his sister I don’t see her or her wasteland pals coming anytime soon. But all is not lost as Norm has an unlikely Allie. In the form of Stephanie… a vault dweller of 31 that came to 33. She agreed with Norms more extreme ideology. Now she is the overseer of Vault 32. And she’s now paired with Chet who is Norms best friend. So how I see it, Chet will find out norm is missing. Betty is being vague which leads to suspicion, Stephanie probably finds out what happened to the original vault 32 dwellers and realises she and everyone there are in danger. So between Chet and Stephanie a plot to find Norm and oust Betty will be a large plot for these characters in season 2. Stephanie obviously knows more about Vault 31 because she came from there but I figure she will change sides and expose the truth as Betty seems to be more Tyranical and sinister with her motives. I figure this is going to all happen before Lucy comes back. Because she doesn’t know what happened after she left. So ousting Betty as Lucy returns possibly with Hank is how I see season 2 conclude.

2. What is Hank doing in New Vegas?

Short answer Not Mr.House but Alexander Boamer….who? When norm looked at the list of reactivated cryopod in vault 31. Four names we knew about, the other three have yet to be introduced or discuss. One of those names Alexander Boamer possibly could be a friend of Hank who went into exile. In the fallout games which are kind of canon in story wise everyone is wondering what happened to new vegas. Well that’s a theory for another time but why would Alexander Boamer be in New Vegas…a reoccurring theme in fallout is people especially vault dwellers can be often exiled. Given that Alexander Boamer doesn’t seem to be present he could either have died or be exiled himself. And maybe new vegas is where exiled vault 31 members go. If you remember the episode where Howard spies on his wife. The only one that seemed to sit back and take it all in was Mr House. I figure he knew that if the others fail they will need a safe haven and this New Vegas be that. But wouldn’t it make sense for Hank to find Mr.House… maybe but finding the exiled vault dweller might be a better way to explain what happens next for Hank. He worked for Vault z Tec but he’s still a mystery. So why Alexander? If the games are canon one character from New Vegas a NPC trader or Gun Runner was a character called Alexander. Perhaps this is the same Alexander from vault 31? Hank has to go somewhere and The Ghoul will track him down. He’s gonna need help.

3. Does the ghoul find his family?

Not in season 2. The Ghoul is an amazing character and his journey would end with him finding his family especially if they are alive. In my opinion when the series ends he will be reunited. However there is a way of redemption to include the characters early and still have him continue. If they revealed in season 3 say he finds his family but they died long ago. Betrayed by Vault Tec by the mystique stranger watching the meeting in that one episode. Then the ghoul could potentially give up but you could have the character grow beyond this and become a hero and welcome to the core group changing him from just a ghoul bounty Hunter looking for his family to a redeemed hero.

4. Is Thaddeus a Ghoul?

Although mentioned as one I don’t think so, I believe he will become a super mutant? Via the FEV (Forced Evolution Virus) fev was a big law in the game canon. Was a plot point as well. In the tv series supermutants are Easter egged. It would only make sense to introduce Super Mutants in season 2. Thaddeus turning into a ghoul and forced to help our team or even Maximus would be a great way to feature a super mutant without them being just brutish villains in the show.

5. Is Maximus going to lead the brotherhood?

Yes and no, as California now has cold fusion, the brotherhood would most likely take up home there. It’s kind of a concluding end of the need of these types of characters but that would be just sad if it ended there. Plus I believe Maximus is in love with Lucy and that would have to come back into effect. So I figure, either Maximus decides to leave taking a power armour with him, or he’s set up and has to go on the run. Or Lucy needs his help but the brotherhood refuses to help so he goes out on his own.

6. Where do we go with Lucy?

Season 02 is most likely going to be the showdown with Hank, she’s coming for her father and will need to bring him to the vault 33. So there is going to be a lot more to this journey. She will probably help the ghoul in return the ghoul will help her. As each needs are kind of aligned. I don’t know how this will look but I figure she will face a whole manor of new characters on her way to New Vegas. Before making the journey back to Vault 33.

7. Any ideas to any new characters they may meet next season?

Well there going to New Vegas, so the first kind of character that pops to mind is a Courier like your character from New Vegas game. That iconic costume and postal service means they would know where to go. If I was to cast an actor that could play this character Josh Holloway would make this a good role. Playing Sawyer on Lost I figure a charismatic reluctant hero, someone Lucy is charmed by but the ghoul kind of despise would be a someone good dynamic. I liked how there was a lot of actors and actresses in season 1 that they would be good to keep this going. It’s like a hook. When you watch something and see an actor or actress you know it’s like a unintentional easter egg. But makes you think about those shows they came from. Kyle McLaughlin who played Hank is clearly Twin Peaks, Fred Armson is Portlandia, Michael Emerson is from Lost. Dale Dickey is from my name is earl, and the cyclops himself Chris Parnell from animated show Archer. I really can’t wait?

8. Any more theories?

I have a few I’m looking at, but I don’t think enough has been revealed yet to explain them. Like CX-404 the dog who is inspired by Dohmeat from fallout 4 but is the same character. CX-404 was part of an enclave experiment that also involved the super mutants. He was underweight but the scientist hid that and kept him as a pet. If anything there is more to that dog than has been revealed but it is a wait and see.

What’s your thoughts? Did you enjoy the show as much as me?

Who Was The Best Film Batman?

Firstly this is just my view based on all the live action Batman actors appearing in films. So animated or tv series and old historic Batmans of black and white era are excluded. Mostly my reason for this is because they are vastly different mediums two which the story was told and well they chose good actors to portray this role for that time. So putting them in the same category as the live action film category just didn’t seem fair. Secondly this is just my thoughts on this subject and thus I’m open to more debate on the matter. I am not a big Batman fan, I don’t sit in in the realm of canon law from the comics. Purely looking at this from a film perspective.

So let’s begin to which I am going to go backwards in time. Starting from newest to oldest.

Robert Patterson

After watching The Batman there was two thoughts I had about it. 1. This feels like the logical conclusion for a sequel to the Gotham TV series. 2. Robert Patterson was not a good Bruce Wayne. Which is not necessarily the actors fault. Whilst in the Batsuit I could totally by Patterson as Batman. But then as Bruce Wayne it just felt completely off for his character. it’s almost like we saw the Bruce Wayne from the Gotham TV series grown up and it was also influenced by The Gritty vibe of the Joker movie. And somewhere in this mix, this radically different but early days of Batman just didn’t sit right with me. Like an uncanny valley effect nothing seemed right about this film yet they followed the core idea. All I could say about that film was “it was inspired by” because you could see Gotham, Joker, even Christopher Nolan’s influence in the story telling of Batman. So this felt almost like a fan film or parody and it set the wrong vibe. I think Patterson should of been given more time to prep for this movie as I feel he was given wrong directions for this film. The fact they are making a sequel to this film leaves me feeling “Meh” as I’m just not excited about this franchise of Batman.

Ben Affleck

The problem I have with Ben Afflecks Batman was that it was set in the Justice League World. Batman is complex, his real costume is that of Bruce Wayne and that’s something that’s slightly unhinged about the guy. He is Batman 100% of the time and Bruce Wayne is but a mask he wears when he’s needed for public. Now I like Affleck as an actor and I feel this was such a wasted potential for him. He played somewhat the Iron Man Robert Downey Jr role in the DC Justice League movies and it didn’t work. What we the viewer needed was more context to this Batman and what would of helped this is if Ben Affleck was given the chance to have at least a trilogy of Batman films to develop his character before the Justice League came about. The justice league just lacked chemistry and you didn’t feel any of these characters would ever join together. This is not Afflecks fault, again it was the studios use of the character that kind of betrayed the actor portraying Batman and it also betrays the complexity for Batman for the character being displayed.

Christian Bale

I don’t look at Christopher Nolans Batman Trilogy as one of the greatest trilogies of all time. Batman Begins, Dark Knight was its best two films and suffered badly with its third movie. Nolan wanted to make a conclusion to his trilogy and I feel that this one decision clouded the films ability to tell the story. So Dark Knight Rises kind of sucked because the focus was on story and conclusions and didn’t offer enough fandom moments that made the two films before it iconic. Onto Bale himself, I think Bale portrayed Bruce Wayne and Batman almost to perfection. Just one element was missing that would of been the cherry on top. That was a crazy and humorous side to Bruce. Not in Batman for. But in Bruce form. As I said Bruce is just a mask for Batman as he’s batman 24/7. The only time I felt this to be present was only subtly in Dark Knight but then became non existent in Dark Knight Rises.

George Clooney

Clooney gets too much hate for this role when it wasn’t his fault. Bad script. Bad director, and someone was on LSD at the time when they thought this looks visually good, Batman & Robin film is the product of when too many people interfere with an established order. When you strip away the very terrible movie. Clooney was a perfect choice for this role. He is very similar to Keaton. In fact if Clooney had been in Batman Forever you’d probably be more forgiving of him playing Batman. I’m frustrated with this one because Clooney is a good actor and the fault isn’t him but that of the director.

Val Kilmer

Kilmer is a tricky category because he was the first to take over the role of live action film Batman and he is vastly different to Michael Keaton. Was he good as Bruce Wayne and Batman? Absolutely but if he did Batman and Robin after Batman Forever then I think it wouldnt of been good for him. Batman Forever I think is actually better than people give it credit for. It’s still a continuous story from Tim Burtons Batman era as the script was adapted from Burtons third movie idea. So it was great for this transitional phase because it’s literslly between Burton and Schueler era but it’s just downplayed by the laterd influence. Just didn’t sit right. But Kilmer could of been a good franchise of Batman but it just should of been a completly new universe for it.

Michael Keaton

So Burton had it right, for its time period as well. He crafted us a Batman that you totally believed in. Something that didn’t happen till Christopher Nolans films. I will only agree with one thing that the studios said which wanted to make toys. batman returns albeit very iconic was too dark. The first movie with Jack Nicholson’s Joker was perfect, then it went full Burton by the sequel and well it was too far away from thr mark. Enough to say, don’t make a third movie. Which is a shame, because Burton should of been allowed to make a trilogy and if he just lightened up a little with Batman Returns we may have seen the third outing. But one thing he did get right was Michael Keaton’s casting as Batman, as Bruce he was distracted and not really present which was good because as I said before Bruce is just a mask, he’s Batman. Batman pretends to be Bruce Wayne in public and Burton portrayed this very accurately on many occasions.

So after my analysis, who was the best Batman actor? It’s a mix of Michael Keaton and Christian Bale they both hit the role almost perfectly and thus no contest they both sit at the top spot.

As for the worst, sorry but Robin Patterson takes that spot.

As for the rest, they was just wasted potential and could of been really good. And not a reflection of the actors that portrayed them.

It’s not a matter of who acted the worst because they all acted well but the problem comes from director and script, if both or one is bad then it’s VERY notiable. So it’s not the actors fault.

What’s your thoughts

Come On Barbie Let’s Go Party

Most would probably think my interests in film are bias to superhero movies. Not true, I look at all genres of films and I love a good comedy.

But I was a bit perplexed by a Barbie Movie. Personally I feel it wasn’t marketed very well. The first I knew of a Barbie movie was when it was released at cinema and went head to head with Oppenheimer.

And there is something incredibly sad about that. See I’ve watched the film but it wasn’t something I was intending to watch. Mostly because it was advertise very well as a comedy. And the themes of the film suggest that this film should be for everyone. So I’m perplexed by they promoted it in such a way to exclude and encourage more people to watch.

Anyway. So what lead to me watching this film. Weirdly YouTube – seeing that Ryan Goslin talk positive about it and then seeing what cast they had in this film. And nearly everyone wanted to be in it. It intrigued me.

So YouTubing some clips from the film and seeing a Stella comedic performance from Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling I felt this film needed abit of justice. Thus I went to watch the film.

And yes, it’s good. It’s funny, it has an important message and that message hits everyone. I saw reports that the film had become a piece of woke propaganda but it is simply not that. Instead it explains the problems of the world in a palatable narrative that works well even for story telling.

The whole film is really a piece on Identity and finding out who you are and being comfortable with who people are. Whilst being funny in many many scenes.

This film has a good vibe. And I highly recommend it to people of all.

My only criticism is there needed to be more Allan one of the funnest characters in the movie was sparsely used and should of appeared more but let’s hope for a sequel where him and midge for that matter kind of shine.

I’m short Barbie is a good 2023/24 film to watch for a humourus take of a toy franchise

Films That Was An Influence On Me

I wanted to do something different, I wanted to give you not a top 10 but 10 films that personally changed my life. Here they are.

1. Jurassic Park – This was the very first movie I ever saw at the cinema. Previously the only way I was ever able to watch a new release was a blockbuster video rental. At the time my family couldn’t afford such luxury as going to the cinema but as years went on we was able to see our first film. That was Jurassic Park. Now I was thinking about this, Jurassic Park is such an iconic film. A master class of story telling and imagination. If this had not been my first cinema movie, would I have continued my passion for film? So I credit this movie for being at the birth of my interest in watching films at the cinema.

2. Million Dollar Hotel – it took me nearly 5 years to track down what this film was. It appeared on tv one day in the early 00’s and it was one of those late night, film that’s on in the background as you surfed the early days of the internet. But this film took my attention. I always liked films that was a bit artistic and different and something about this film just stood out. It had so many good cast members. Directed by Mel Gibson, you had Jeremy Davis as the lead who has featured on many tv shows including Lost, Lucifer & Hannibal. It also had Mila Jovovich of resident evil fame, Peter Stomer of Lost World Jurassic Park and prison break – such an iconic film. So how did it change my life. It took me 5 years to track down this film as I forgot the name of it and well I had only remembered fragments of the film. But using the internet and researching about films and trying to track down history, helped me to explore the world of film making. You learn about set designs, trivia production, locations. This film is responsible for me delving deeper into the production of films. Such a great film shame such a low rating.

3. Short Circuit 2 – this film wouldn’t normally be on a list like this more of a top 10 films I like, but in recent times this film was one of the first films that I personally enjoyed but not realised how the casting of an actor in a controversial role is what makes this film questionable today. But for me, it’s like I didn’t know, I really didn’t know until someone pointed it out. And his is and still is a treasured movie of mine. So why this changed my life is that it gave me a perspective, a view point about what people find offensive or controversial. Even if the films intent was pure it still has something not quite right about it. Now many tv shows with controversial scenes or actions have been removed over the years and I don’t think this is the way forward on this. You can’t just sweep away history because it offends someone now. It happened. And it should serve as a reminder that it did happen and how we can improve for the future. Deleting history is a waste. But alas controversy is a big issue and the question on how to handle it is never straight forward.

4. Fight Club – I don’t agree with the plot of the movie, or the characters actions throughout, but there was something relatable to the main character played by Edward Norton in the film. The internal comments was too real. The writer (chuck palanki) knew very well how to portray inner dialogue. When we watch a film, we see it from the characters perspective but every now and there you can see the parallel to your own life. Fight Club was the first movie that did that for me, I was able to see my mind operate from the weirdest of thoughts wether silly or bizzare and a internal dialogue playing them out. Trying to make sense of them. There has been more films I can relate to, better films at that. But fight club was the first relatable movie.

5. Oceans 11 – take all the elements of James Bond, mix it into a heist movie and add a dash of celebrities. Ocean 11 is a modern mystery film. You never know exactly where to look because how it’s going to end is now how you have been lead to believe. This film introduced to me the idea of clever misdirection writing. When I was younger, I was learning psychology, this lead into hypnotism and then deception which is a tool of the trade for magicians. I became fascinated with this complex series of events that had to occur to make the end effect . Now it’s one thing to be a magician because you have an act practice it till perfect and then present it. But to make a film that most will see only once, include a deceptive nature and make you shocked by the end. Bravo. It wasn’t just about this for this film. It was the style, the use of characters. Basically this film is one of my inspirations for when I write my own stories. Just the richness of multiple characters playing there role in one film and they all play an Important part. That makes for brilliant writing.

6. Scream – a lot of people dislike scream as a horror movie, but as a horror movie that was not its intent or purpose. Wes craven made this film to teach the new generation of classic horror films. Instead of trailing through a tone of old horror films explaining old cliches just watch scream it has them all and explains it to you why there there in the first place. It’s a film that teaches you about how they made classic horror films. Disguised as a horror film. It is a source of reference for me and I use it as a litmus test when I ask people if they liked the movie. If they simply disliked it then they didn’t understand it’s purpose but if they bring up what the movie was about then I know that person has good taste in films. I wish we had more films like this, a somewhat celebration of film history but alas we don’t have this for other genres, maybe someday we will.

7. Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou – I had watched Wes Anderson films before in the past and never really got the artistic view until I saw Life Aquatic. I was already a fan of Bill Murray and I am no stranger to artistic films. But what changed it for me was watching life aquatic it was the beauty of the design of the set. The world, a artistic world that Wes anderson made, there are thousands of directors out there. But only a small few have a design. Like you know a Tim Burton movie because, you know a Kevin smith film because, baz lurhman, Luc Basson, Wes anderson their are simply some directors that have that unique look. I may do a post on this some point in the future. But anyway life aquatic really awoke the notion of style, what is your characteristics. In other words, it gave me the idea of how someone makes something into a brand, there brand.

8. Little Shop Of Horrors – I never thought I’d like a musical. If someone asked me did you like musical films or theatre… I’d think of cats, and hairspray, Jesus Christ super star and phantom of the opera and I’d be like no, musicals are not my genre. Till one day I saw Les Misrable and thought “that’s a well done movie” so why isn’t les misrable the film and not little shop of horrors. Well seeing Les Misrable and finding it enjoyable unlocked a flood of movies I had scene that was musicsl orientated but I just simply dismissed and Litttle Shop of Horrors was the first of that list. Not only had my school put on a performance of this from the 1988 film, I actually played the role of the dentist in the school play. Every time I watch this film it brings back warm memories, plus the wonderful Rick Moranis was in it. But yeah, little shop of horrors, Rocky horror picture show, several Disney cartoon movies like Aladdin or Lion King… I completly dismissed the whole musical element from my life because my mind associated it with films I disliked, and not the films I actually did like.

9. Ghostbusters – pretty iconic film how did this change your life. Well I never got to see this at the cinema especially as my first film was Jurassic park at the cinema. But I have seen this film multiple times. But that’s not the reason this makes this list. It’s more to do with jobs. See at the age of 16 you get a guidance councillor and they ask you want you want to be when your older. I had no clue, no idea. I was smart but no business venture of interest, it’s because I had learnt that if I was to capitalise on one of my hobbies the. I would hate that hobby over time and I didn’t want to lose that love for it. And if I took a job I hated I would be Misrable. So I figured the perfect job for me would be a job that I find easy to do, I can be quiet sociable and it’s not something I necessarily like doing but the money pays well enough to justify doing that job. That’s the bare minimum of the employment I went into, and had done for 18 odd years. But the question that always played on my mind is, what would of been my perfect job. Till one day it hit me, I was watching ghostbusters and I realised. A ghostbuster is my perfect job. But the problem then is this is a fictional job and doesn’t exist. But that was irrelevant because despite realising Ghostbuster was the perfect role for me. It the aspects of the Job, that I liked. It was a role that had gadgets, you work as a team. It has a sense of importance, and it’s very niche. So now I know what I need out of a job that would make me happy. Ghostbusters gave me the elements I needed to understand what kind of job I wanted to do in life. Sadly ghost busting isn’t real but at least I know it’s a job like that which would suit me well.

10. Die Hard – oh come on how can die hard be influential, I thought about this long and hard, I have multiple examples I could use. But die hard is in my top 3 of top films of all time so I thought why not. How die hard and may other films I’ll mentioned in a minute. Influenced my life. Is the art of a perfectly crafted film. There are so few films that are so perfectly crafted that you can watch them again and Again and again over and over and you never get bored of them. This is because there so perfectly crafted you can watch them a million times over and on the million and one times you see something new. Some notable examples are Jaws, The first Matrix Film, Terminatir 2, both Alien and Aliens the ultimate crafted film doesn’t need a sequel but these films are so well crafted you can watch the. Forever and never get bored. My question for you is what we’ll crafted film would you put here?

So there you have it. A bit of a personal journey into my history with theme as I honour some of my Al time classic films,

If Iron Man Movies was retold as if it was Batman

So as per my previous post. This is what a Batman film would be like it it used Ironman as a bases for a rebooted story FYI this is not a “they should make this film” this is just to show that if you totally rebooted Batman’s origin and updated what Batman is for the new age how someone like Batman could have an amazing Film Franchise

I titled this Batman: The Awakening.

Plot.

Bruce Wayne who has inherited the science tech contractor Wayne Enterprise from his father Thomas Wayne, is at a tech expo in Japan with his friend and body guard soon to join the Gotham Police Department Jim Gordon to demonstrate the new “Enhanced Tactical Suit” . After the demonstration, the convoy is ambushed and Bruce is kidnapped by The League Of Shadows, captured and imprisoned at the Leagues base “The Lazarus Pit” Dr.Crane, a fellow captive doctor, helps Bruce to concurs his fears and agrees to help him escape, The Leagues leader Raz Al Ghul offers Bruce freedom in exchange for building the tactical suitsfor the group, but he and Crane know that Raz will not keep his word.

Bruce and Crane secretly build a new type of tactical suit to aid in their escape. Although they keep the suit hidden almost to completion, the The League discover their hostages’ intentions and attack the workshop. Crane sacrifices himself to divert them while the suit fully charges. The armored Bruce battles his way out of the cave to find crane has been taken away to be killed, then burns the The Lazarus Pit in anger and flies away, crashing in the desert and destroying the suit. After being rescued by Jim Gordon, Bruce returns to Gotham and announces that his company will cease manufacturing tech for the government. Dr.Victor Fries his father’s old partner and the company’s manager, advises Bruce that this may ruin Wayne Enterprise and his father’s legacy. In his home workshop, Bruce builds a sleeker, more powerful version of his improvised armor suit as well as building a base of operations “The Batcave”. Though Fries requests details, a suspicious Bruce decides to keep his work to himself.

At a charity event held by Wayne Enterprise reporter Vikki Vale informs Bruce that his company’s tactical suits were recently delivered to the The League Of Shadows and are being used to attack Around the world, Bruce dons his new armor “Bat Suit” and travels to a small town where he tracks down some league members, where he saves the villagers. While flying home, Bruce is chased by two gotham police vehicles He reveals his secret identity to Jim Gordon over the phone in an attempt to end the pursuit. Meanwhile, the The League Of Shadows gather the pieces of Bruces prototype Bat suit and meet with Fries who has been trafficking the suits to criminals worldwide and has staged a coup to replace Bruce as Wayne Enterprises’ CEO by hiring the The League Of Shadows to kill him. In doing so Fries would be able to fund his research into cryogenics which Bruce’s father deemed a lost cause. He subdues Raz Al Ghul and has the rest of the group killed. Fries has a massive new suit reversed engineered using his cryogenic tech from the wreckage of the proto Bat Suit. Seeking to track his company’s illegal shipments, Bruce sends Rachel his personal assistant to hack into its database. She discovers that Fries hired the The League to kill Bruce, but the group reneged when they realized they had a direct route to Bruces weapons. Rachel meets with Agent Jon Johnson of J.U.S.T.I.C.E an meta human agency to inform him of Fries activities.

Fries scientists cannot duplicate Bruce’s exact suit programs so Fries ambushes Bruce at Wayne manor and takes the one from his suit. Bruce manages to get to his original programme now called “Alfred” to replace it. Rachel and several Justice agents attempt to arrest Fries, but he dons his “Mr Freeze” suit and attacks them. Bruce now as Batman fights Mr Freeze but is outmatched without his new Programme to run his suit at full capacity. The fight carries Batman and Mr Freeze to the top of the Wayne Enterprise building, and Bruce instructs Rachel to overload the power grid powering the building. This unleashes a massive electrical surge that causes Victor Fries and his Mr Freeze Suit to malfunction to fall into the near by lake the cryogenic cooler explodes freezing Victor effectively killing him.. The next day, at a press conference, Bruce defies suggestions from Justice Department and publicly admits to being “Batman.”

In a post credit scene Aquaman visits Bruce at home, telling him tha Batman is not “the only hero in the world”, and explaining that he wants to discuss the Justice League

The Problem With Batman On Film

The Problem With Batman On Film

Every now and then i look at a franchise especially ones that have failed at reboots and compaire them to successful reboots. Now that statement “Successful Reboots” seems like an almost Oxymoron given the history surrounding the notion of Rebooting a franchise.

When you have an iconic character and multiple directors get a change to give their version of that character there is usually an angle, a clever look into a different side to something we thought we already knew. But once all those Angles have been exhausted there is simply nothing else to say about the character without it becoming just a cash cow.

For example… The character of Superman struggles to have a decent reboot because their is no way to really tell his story without covering old grounds. Hes an alien who looks like a human but has abilities that makes him like a super human… a superman. In my personal opinion everything you ever needed to be said about Superman stems from the Christopher Reeves run at portraying the character on film, that being said their was two notable exceptions which i refer to the “Louise and Clark tv series and the Smallvile tv series” because this pretty much covers superman at every angle and tv shows do play an important part in this on screen character.

This is why The Hulk has never been able to have a solo successful franchise movie, its been done, the only good use you have for the character is for him to appear in other franchises which they did in Avengers and other marvel property. Look at The Hulk film and The Incredible Hulk films they added nothing to the character as we seen it all from the made for tv movies that was made… or was it a tv show.

Anyway Batman! The problem we are now facing with Batman is that we have seen him at nearly every angle, We saw the introduction of a classic hero “The Tim Burton/and the other director” 4 film bonanza – we saw the sculted origin story of christopher nolans saga, we saw a terrible Justice League variant – Not Ben Afflecks fault more to do with the problem of putting a dark hero mixed into a ligh heros story. I’ll explain that later. We have gotham basically populating Gotham with its ethos. Whats left…?

I saw the trailer to the Patterson Batman – to me, he looks fine as batman but as Bruce Wayne it doesnt feel right. I know why it doesnt feel right. The movie has fallen into the “DC Trying to do something like Marvel but this ultra-realistic connected universe is falling apart” scenario just doesnt work.

But then i thought to myself, Well how do you make Batman interesting when everything has been done about him.

Simple, change his origin, change when its set, change the old style of what batman means and look at the world today and say to yourself how would Batman exist in a world today if it happened.

Its an interesting concept, you know who did it first? Marvel with Iron Man? the film was no surprise gonna be a hit not just because of its casting but also because they new had to put Ironman into the modern world. You could totally buy a Tony Stark doing what he did because it felt real.

So what i did was, i looked at Wikipedia and took the plot of Iron Man and with a few creative tweeks changed the characters to Batman characters and ended up with a batman film that not only works, its completly different but very relivant.

Im not going to post the whole plot but i will try and give you the summary.

Bruce Wayne inherits his father business after his death, he is kidnapped by the league of shadows but escapes building a “Prototype Batman suit” Upon returning to Gotham he finds that his business partner working on Wayne technology “Dr.Victor Fries” tried to take control of the company so he could fund his research by the kidnapping of bruce wayne. However this war between business rivials leads to Victor going after Bruce and thus trying to steal his Batman suit design. Victor builds his “Mr.Freeze” suit that he could then sell to further his business venture into cryogenics. Bruce adopts the mantel of Batman and stops him.

Its basically the plot of Iron Man 1 but look at how cool Batman would be if we changed the narrative of how batman works. A modern Batman, a playboy millionare company owner who uses his wealth to undo wrong doings in his own company. Plus it gives Mr.Freeze a chance to come to the big screen in a way that you could actually think… “Well this isnt a giant silver tinsel christmas tree running around”

Further more, iron man 2 and 3 gives a even more exiciting way to introduce currently known characters in a very different light. The Joker as being an ex-Wayne enterprise employee. The Riddler being rejected years ago for help with his project only for it to come back and in the 3rd movie to create chaos.

My point being is that Batman needs to shed its old and step into the new. Were not asking for Batman of the future/Batman Beyond – which they should make. But we need something that hasnt already been done. gotham is no longer gothic, technology is king in this current times so use it. Use the problems of this world to voice how batman would stand within it. and maybe just maybe if DC just saw the formula for success like Marvel did then we would of had a better Justice League creation.

If you want me to write out my full plot for a rebooted Batman film based on alot more complexities let me know in the comments and i will make it my next post.

Sucide Squad – Review & Character Analysis

I won’t lie to you. When it comes to DC comics I’m not the biggest of fans of the franchises they own. I’ve found the only aspect I liked about them was that when it came to villains they did them well.

So sucide squad would seem like a perfect movie for me to watch… Although the movie was entertaining I found it very flawed and messy. Especially in the writing and making some characters pretty souless. There was times I thought, you acted well up to this point and then just went weird and gave up on the character. As the movie is about an onsomble cast I thought what better way to go through and highlight good and bad points.

Dead shot.

I remember reading somewhere that Will Smith doesn’t take on movies unless he is Center stage. So watching him be a part of a larger cast and not necessarily being the lead to made me feel puzzled why did he do this film? Although I have a weird fan theory on his character and that of his wife’s character in the show Gotham. See maybe Will’s wife said how much she enjoyed playing a villain and encouraged Will to do the same. But it made me think, Jada’s character in Gotham is Fish Mooney, a criminal kingpin of sorts. It is never explained who dead shots ex-misses is but it would make a lot of sense if it was fish Mooney, that he doesn’t want his ex-wife to have custody and that Deadshots origin in the comics is from the Batman world. Despite the TVs show and movies age gap or the fact that they haven’t stated if it is connected to the DC movie universe they are constructing it could make sense. Anyway Will Smiths performance is solid in the film but you just left head scratching to why he’s not the main lead. What I thought was cool was Margot Robbie stared alongside will smith in the film Focus so was kinda cool those two characters they played in Sucide Squad kind of worked together.

Harley Quinn

In my oppinion, this actresses is becoming one of my favourite current actresses to watch. She’s always played interesting roles wether Wolf Of Wall Street, Focus or now Sucide Squad, she has range. It’s the first time for the character to appear on big screen and I think she nailed it.

Captain Boomerang

I was really hyped by the idea that the actor was told to find his inner bastard. But what I saw on screen was like almost the PG version of him. I don’t believe this to be the actors fault. Because you could tell he fully embodied the character but to me I just felt, (did they cut out his best scenes he filmed to save running time of the movie) I’m really looking forward to the DVDs release cause I wanna see if there was deleted scenes of the character.

Diablo

The only character that seem to have a soul in the film. Which I felt was quite a good contrasts. Very well performed, his character had a great arch.

Joker

This had the most hype, but I feel I was left thinking wtf this isn’t the joker, then other times I thought spot on. See I loved how crazy he was in the film but they kinda made him out as a gangster club owner Joker. To me the joker was never that materialistic, I mean owning a fun fair full of acid is more how I imagine him. Sitting in a nightclub with his crew conducting business… Seriously it was confusing. You could argue different take on the Joker, but previous actors have given us the unhinged joker in the similar world and I just thought yeah I see where you was going but nothing really memorable about it because you put too many scenes that just contradicted how you view the joker. Which is a shame because lato did a good job, but it was the writing that let him down.

Rick Flag

I’m not familiar with the comics too much to know who this character is, but robocop actor did kind of leave a weird thought in my head. Here’s a guy who wants to save his girl, but he is the best of the best. So why was he so reluctant too use them when if he was the best of the best he could of took them down. Just didn’t seem like he had thought his mission through properly.

Katana

I’m sorry but I just felt she was unnecessary for the film. Rick flags body gaurd? Because his entire army of solders wouldn’t of kept him safe?

Enchantress

When I watched this I thought when she was playing the human form she was a great actor but as enchantress it was like… So the main villain is a performance art street artist? Weird body movements and very weird looking, when I first saw her I thought cool she’s creepy like a character from a modern horror supernatural film, but it just became awkward and weird later on.

Killer croc

Muscle basically – kind of interesting but wasn’t really used much.

Slip knot

He was in every poster, yet he’s basically a 5 minute cameo – I felt sorry for the actor.

Amanda Waller

Again don’t really know her from the comics but she played the character well .
Well there it is that’s my review

Gotham tv show Review & who the joker might be?

First of I would like to say how brilliant the show is. Seen three episodes so far and this is gonna be big.

It’s gonna tell the origin of villains from the batman franchise. And so we are introduced to young catwomam, the one day riddler, young poison ivy and of course Penguin.

I could go on and on about how great the show is but a mystery has been left… Who will be the joker? Has he already appeared on the show?

Well I think we have been thrown a red herring. Before I go any further im just gonna say this will contain spoilers…

SPOILERS AHEAD.

Ok here it is “THE JOKER THEORY”

My suspicions started after I saw a scene in episode 2. Where Oswald Copplepot laid on the floor starring at a map of gotham.

Here are the images

Is that a Joker card with a picture by it saying Gone? Hmm my first initial thought Is The Penguin knows who The UpandComing Joker will be.

But then I thought again. what if the writers have made a twist in the show that characters are not who they say they are? Oswald in the comics and other media was fat, deformed and abandoned by his parents.

Doesn’t sound like tv show character now he’s skinny.

But how bout this idea.

What if penguin is joker?

Mrs Copplepot gave up Oswald as a baby because of his deformities. The whereabouts of said Oswald is unknown then you have the joker who is basically a psychopath found a home with Mrs Copplepot pretending to be her long lost son, using his identity to live in gotham.

So what supports this?

1. Gothams Oswald fights with knives, something usually the joker uses.

2. He smiles a lot

3. In the comics and featured in the dark knight movie the joker pitted mob bosses against each other. It’s something Oswald is doing in gotham tv shows.

4. Purple waist coat

5. The wall collage made up of cut up pieces of news paper a joker trait

6. The playing card.

7. He enjoys inflicting pain.

8. Uses non de plume (paval)

9. Skinny like the joker

I know it’s early in the show but what’s your thoughts.

Who Would Make A Good Mr.Freeze In A Batman Reboot?

Hi, long time no speak but hey its not the end of the year just yet.

Over the christmas period i had some interesting conversations (very very geeky conversations) about comic books, movies…etc and there was a large debate about Mr.Freeze in a Batman Movie.

Now im a big fan of Mr.Freeze… not the movie version, not really the comic book version no… but the one Mr.Freeze i always liked was the 90’s Animated Series Batman Mr.Freeze, there was something about his voice and the dark gothic like cartoon’s mentality that just made him so cool.

cartoon

However what we got in the movie (im not counting his appearance in the batman live action tv show from the 60’s… or adam west era because that was good in a comedic brilliance sort of way and im talking more about movies) no what we got is what i can only describe is a Modern Christmas Tree On Steroids…

VARIOUS

Jingly all the way huh… anyway i feel Mr.Freeze needs to be in a new Batman Era… maybe a Ben Affleck Era of Batman who knows. But here is my Top 5 actors that could do Mr.Freeze Justice.

batman_logo_only_by_deathonabun-d5swf2u

Now before we begin i would like to make mention on actor who didnt make it into my top 5 but i always felt was perfect for the role. The only reason i havent included him is because alas he has gotten too old for the role. You know him as Professor Xavier and Captain Picard of the USS Enterprise.

6th

One of the key things i thought chilling about Mr.Freeze from the cartoon was his distinct voice, the emotionless yet powerful voice that he had and the only actor id say that could mimic it would of been Patrick Stewart… But heres the reality… you have batman running around throwing bat-a-rangs of whatever you call them and getting into fights. Do you really see Batman going up against Patrick Stewart? Hell first off it wouldnt be a Batman movie, it would be a Mr.Freeze movie with Batman in it. i know what your thinking… Cool but we have to stick to the idea that this is a Batman world and no matter how cool the villian would be Batman has to defeat him. So here is my Top 5 actor choices.

#1 – Bryan Cranston

Freeze 1 - Bryan Cryanston

Bryan has shown great levels of acting especially in his Breaking Bad role where he went from mild manored Chemistry teacher to Heisenberg the Meth dealer in the space of 5 seasons. Not only would he be great in this role, he ticks every box. has a distict voice, looks right for the role and probably in good enough shape to be paired up and fight whoever plays batman.

#2 Bruce Willis.

Freeze 2 - Bruce Willis

Although Die Hard is my ultimate favourite movie of all time, and that i think bruce willis would be great cast in everything. But there is other reasons ive always thought he would play a great Mr.Freeze. 1. Bruce has mentioned in the past that he would love to play a villain, given the amount of action films he has done this would make a brillaint action ready Mr.Freeze. Although he doesnt really have a range of voices his own voice is pretty much i would say very new yorker/brooklyn esq and considering Gotham City seems to be based very similar to that sort of setting it would make him seem more grounded in gotham city.

#3 Tobin Bell

Freeze 3 - Tobin Bell

Why Tobin? hear me out. I loved the saw movies and one thought that came to my mind was When you look at the Batman Animated series version of Mr.Freeze he was cold, chilling, distinct voice etc. apart from his freeze suit, look at what Nolan did with the batman franchise – he took something over the top and grounded it. And i thought how cool would it be to have Mr.Freeze as something completely different. A man whose wife is dying because Wayne Enterprises cut his funding into her cure. A man that would go to extreme lengths, a brilliant genius that has been given an ultimatium by a heartless wayne enterprises – in my vision of a nolan-esq batman Tobin would be very similar to that of his character Jigsaw. Essentially punishing people that caused his research to fail at wayne enterprises – maybe his signature is that he freeze’s bodies he tortures and thus gives him the serial killer name of Mr.Freeze.

4# Timothy Olyphant

Freeze 4 - timothy olyphant

I think he is great playing characters that have been tipped over the age, Just look at Die Hard 4.0 not a great film i know but his character seeking revenge has always been fun. Then look at him in Hitman, an emotionless voided character. Plus age wise against who plays batman in it would be brilliantly balanced.

5# Jason Statham

Freeze 5 - Jason Statham

He doesnt want to be a superhero – fair enough, to  be honest other than batman i couldnt see him play any superhero – But in order for him to play batman he would need hair and then he would just look weird. But then again a action movie star – he would be perfect as a villain, MrFreeze could be a good fit for him. Seeing this actor play a scientist that turns him into Mr.Freeze would be quite interesting.

Well anyway that is my top 5 actors for Mr.Freeze.

I know i have been away for a while but im back now. Planet Nerdy is going to have more posts coming soon.
